Mary Elsie Pearson

March 11, 1939 — January 22, 2011

A celebration of her life will be at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 26 in the Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Rev. Jed Humphrey, Minister of Worship at South Georgia Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at 3:30 pm Wednesday, January 26 at Englewood Cemetery in Slaton with Samuel Prien officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Mary was born on March 11, 1939 in Abilene to Alva and Frances Allbright. She spent most of her early life in New Home and Southland, graduating from Southland High School in 1957, before moving to Slaton where she married Jack O. Pearson on August 10, 1958. They have resided in Amarillo since 1963. Mary devoted 20 years of active involvement in the Girl Scouts earning the nickname Sarge. She was a member of Eastern Star, A.E. Shirly Chapter; Daughters' of the Nile, Avihk Temple; Daughters' of the American Revolution; and First Baptist Church of Southland. A licensed cosmetologist by trade, she also enjoyed genealogy, sewing, painting, and playing tennis and basketball. Her kind and compassionate heart complimented her interesting, but special sense of humor. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and father; a grandson, Stephen Sims; and 2 great grandchildren, Ashley Pearson and Jordan Sims. Survivors include her mother; a brother, Robert Allbright, both of Southland; 3 daughters, Shera Smith and husband Eddie, Roson Wilson and husband Richey, and Dawn Larson and husband Mike all of Amarillo; a son, William ""Billy"" Pearson of Amarillo; 5 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives. The family suggests memorials be to American Diabetes Association. The family will receive friends from 6-7pm Tuesday, January 25 at the funeral home.
