Melba Jean Mills

It is with great sadness that the family of Melba Jean Mills of Amarillo, TX who was born April 17, 1938 announces that she received her angel wings and went to be with our Heavenly Father on Monday April 16, 2018 at the age of 79 years. Melba was a beautiful woman with a huge heart. She was an avid member of the Panhandle Bluegrass Association, where she enjoyed playing the bass guitar with the band. She loved sitting outside drinking her coffee, enjoying nature and all its beauty. She also enjoyed crocheting and several other crafts. She was a loving Wife, Mother, and Grandmother who enjoyed family time. Melba married the love of her life J.C. Mills on November 30, 1954. After only knowing him seven days they eloped and wed on the eighth day leading to sixty-three wonderful years of marriage and six children. Melba leaves behind her loving and devoted Husband J.C. Mills; Daughter Barbara Britton and Husband Gene of Canyon, TX; Son Danny Mills; Son Fred Mills and Wife Janet; Son Rodney Mills and Wife Jackie; Son Randy Mills; and Daughter Cecilia Mills all of Amarillo, TX, a Sister Helen Jones, a Brother Ray Brown, along with several Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Father Charlie Brown; Mother Evelyn Brown; two Brothers Charles and Fred Brown; two Grandsons Anthony and Bobby Mills; and a Great-Granddaughter Kenleigh Hall. She will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her. Viewing will be Thursday 9 AM- 8 PM at Rector Funeral Home.
