A celebration of her life will be at 11:00 am Thursday, January 13 in the Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Rev. Leon Green, of Bolton St. Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at 2:30 pm Thursday, January 13 at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Melba was born on October 14, 1928 in Estelline to Bob and Lula Mae McCoy, and went to be with Lord and her husband on January 10, 2011. She spent many of her early years in Borger graduating from Borger High School. She married the love of her life, Gene Monden, on March 29, 1947. Melba was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Borger, where she was involved in WMU, Bible classes, and Sunday school. They moved to Pringle, in 1968, where she worked in the school cafeteria. In 1974, they moved to Hartley where she enjoyed attending church with her family, and watching the basketball. Her family and friends were a special part of her life, especially her grandchildren, and she cherished the time spent with each one. Gene and her were seldom apart, and held hands throughout the entire 62 years of their marriage. She will be dearly missed. Survivors include 2 daughters, Kimberly Johnson of Amarillo, and Shari Robertson and husband Woody of Sanford; 2 sons, Alan Monden and wife Bonnie of Amarillo, and David Monden and wife Demarus of Ojai, CA; 9 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Meals on Wheels.
