Melton Claude Williams 87, of Amarillo died Friday, March 14, 2014 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Sam Collins officiating. Private burial will be at Llano East Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Williams was born in Grady, NM. He served in the Army during WWII. Mr. Williams worked as a clerk for Santa Fe Railroad for 39 years. He retired in 1988. He was an avid gardener and loved taking care of his fruit and pecan trees. He married Imogene Polson on June 8, 1946 in Big Spring. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1999. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Kent Williams in 2006 and Kim Williams in 2010 and a grandson, Russell Williams Annen in 2009. He is survived by two sons, Kerry Williams and his wife Nealann of New Braunfels, and Larry Williams of Grand Prairie; one daughter, Carla Nickens and her husband Eric of Amarillo; one sister, Oleta Mayfield of Amarillo, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donation to High Plains Childrens' Home
