Mike Vearner 64, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 19, 2016 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday at Lamount Drive Baptist Church with Glen Switzer, pastor officiating. Interment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix, Arizona. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mike was born on October 16, 1951 in Shamrock to Donald Ray and Dorothy (Matthews) Vearner. He served in the Army from 1972-1974. He played the clarinet in the 77th Army Band. After his service, Mike lived in Amarillo and attended West Texas State University where he pursued a degree in accounting. He worked in Amarillo as a bookkeeper for many years. Mike moved to Arizona 16 years ago and returned to Amarillo in May. He was preceded in death by Camille, his wife of 37 years in 2012and his father in 2009. He is survived by his mother, Dorothy of Amarillo; three sisters, Pat Hare of Cortez, CO, Trudy Switzer and husband Glen and Alicia Marshall and her husband Joe all of Amarillo; one brother, K.C. Vearner and wife Susie of Marble Falls; 3 step-daughters, Cheri, Racquel and Michelle and several grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association PO Box 841125 Dallas, TX 75284-1125.
