Myrtis Lou Provence 97, of Amarillo died Saturday October 4, 2008 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Fairview Assembly of God with Cliff Houghton, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mrs. Provence was born in Choctaw County, OK, near Hugo, to Alvin and Annie Phillips. She was raised in northeast Texas. She married Joe Provence on Aug. 29, 1926 in Red River County, near Clarksville. They lived in northeast Texas and southwest Arkansas before moving to Amarillo in 1947. She was a homemaker and a member of Fairview Assembly of God. She was dearly loved by all of her family. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 29, 1984 after 57 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant son and daughter, a brother, William Harvey Phillips, 3 sisters, Gracie Pace, Lorene Fansher and Ethel Phillips and 2 great-grandsons, Timothy Shepard and D'Artagon Williams. She is survived by 1 daughter, Annie Provence of Amarillo; 1 son, David Provence and his wife Kimberly of Amarillo; 1 sister, Robbie Abney of Glenwood, AR; 7 grandchildren, Charity Weir, Raven Provence-Williams, Jeremiah Provence, Joseph Provence, Jacob Provence, Staycee Washbish and Joshua Provence; 6 great-grandchildren, Gabriel Shepard, Morgan Shepard, Renee Weir, Henry Provence, Alekia Provence and Persephanie Williams.
