Nancy Davison

November 16, 1946 — December 30, 2018

Nancy Carol Davison, 72, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2018. A Memorial Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at 2:00 p.m., at Trinity Fellowship Church, Student Ministry Center, 5000 Hollywood Road, Amarillo, Texas, Pastor Kyle Wilkinson, Officiant. Nancy was the youngest child of E. Francis and D'Esta (Wyman) Davison. She was born in Alva, OK on November 16, 1946. Nancy grew up on the Davison and Sons ranch located southeast of Arnett, OK. Always the tomboy, Nancy enjoyed the country life, many times riding her mustang Tony in the pasture. Nancy's mother, D'Esta, would place scraps in a pan outside to feed the local possum and raccoons would scratch on the screen door to receive white bread slices straight from your hand! After Nancy graduated high school in 1964, she attended Oklahoma State University for 2 years. Then, she followed her sister and moved to Madison, WI. During her time in Madison, she gave birth to her first daughter, Karyn Emily Scholfield. At the age of 20 and without parental support, Nancy understood she could not properly care for her new daughter and made the difficult decision to allow her to be adopted. The two were reunited in 1985. In the early 70s, Nancy followed her brother Cecil to the Washington, D.C. area. During this time, she met and fell in love with T.C. Swann, Jr. The two married in 1972, and their daughter, Felicity Joy Swann, was born in 1974. Regrettably, the marriage did not last. After the divorce, she and Felicity returned to the mid-west. Nancy received a job opportunity in Amarillo, Tx, and they moved in 1980. Nancy was employed with South Western Public Service for ---years. Then, she worked for New Century Energies and finally Xcel Energies. Nancy retired after ---- years of service to the public utility. In the 80s, Nancy continued her education at Amarillo College, by taking computer classes. However, her proudest educational achievement came in 1991, when at the age of 44, Nancy earned her bachelor's degree from Wayland Baptist University. Nancy was baptized at 11 yrs old in the Arnett Christian church. In her adult years, Nancy enjoyed sharing her faith and her love of God. She spent time writing notes in the Sharing Hope ministry and was an active member of the hospital ministry team at Trinity Fellowship church. She served as treasurer for the Randall County Republican precinct, and she was chaplain for the Sparkling O'Hatters, a local red hat organization. Nancy enjoyed attending the Tuesday night SALT life group with Trinity Fellowship, and going to the Senior Citizen center Friday afternoons to play joker with her friends. Nancy especially enjoyed blessing local animal charities with monetary donations. Her most recent goal was to provide bullet proof vests to the local K9 unit. In November 2017, Nancy was diagnosed with Stage 2 cervical cancer. She spent most of 2018 undergoing radiation and chemo treatments. Although her body was responding positively to treatment, Nancy grew tired. She lost her sense of taste for her beloved chocolate, all of her hair, and became too weak to drive herself to activities. Her sparkling smile, friendly hug, generous spirit, and loyal friendship will be missed by all who knew her. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include daughters, Karyn Emily Scholfield of Neilsville, WI and Felicity Joy Swann of Amarillo, TX; her brother Cecil W. Davison and wife Nancy Lee of Washington, D.C.; sister Sherry Nichols and husband Charles of Arnett, OK; neice Jennifer and husband Brent Shaw, children Brendan, Collin, Alayna, and Savannah of Norman, OK;neice Ruth Ann Givens and husband Weston, children Will, Laura, and Lena of Arnett, OK. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in Nancy's name to the Amarillo S. P. C. A., P O Box 1014, Amarillo, Texas 79105. Please sign the On-Line Guest Book at www.rectorfuneralhome.com
