Neta Jane Hopper Hodges 89, of Amarillo died Tuesday, April 26, 2016 in Amarillo. No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation services were provided by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Hodges was born on February 13, 1927 in Wynnewood, OK to James D. and Otha (Hall) Raines. She moved to Amarillo in 1969. Mrs. Hodges was a devoted humanitarian. She dedicated most of her life to helping those less fortunate than herself. Over the years, she cared for many aged veterans and teenage foster children. She was a true blessing to everyone she met. She married John Hodges in 1993. Mrs. Hodges was preceded in death by her first husband, Lee Hopper in 1986 and a step son, Johnny Hodges two years ago. She was a member of St. Luke's Presbyterian Church and had been an active member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. Survivors include her husband; one son, Bill Hopper and his wife Cecilia of Anchorage, AK; two daughters, Jane Hart and Barbara Jensen both of Amarillo; one step-son, Tommy Hodges and companion Paula of Durango, CO; her step-daughter, Jane Hodges and husband Dave of Atlanta, GA; one sister, Patsy Higgs of Amarillo; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial donation be to the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, 1217 S. Tyler St., Amarillo, Texas 79101.
