Oscar H. Contreras

Oscar H. Contreras 60, of Amarillo died, Thursday July 31, 2014 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 9:30 AM Monday at the Parkway Congregation Kingdom Hall of Jehovahs Witnesses. Graveside services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Oscar was born in Eagle Pass on December 14, 1953 to Luis and Ofelia Contreras. He moved to Amarillo in 1983 after living in Wisconsin. He was a dedicated employee of IBP/Tyson for more than 31 years. Oscar was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved telling others about his faith and ministering to those that needed an encouraging word. Oscar also enjoyed making handcrafted furniture and wood woodworking. He was a faithful member of the Parkway Congregation. He married Mary Garcia on May 27, 1972 in Crystal City. He is survived by his wife Mary; two sons, Oscar Contreras, II; of San Antonio and Orlando Contreras and his wife Veronica of Amarillo; one daughter, Angie Villegas and her husband Jesse of Carlsbad, NM; two brothers, Luis Contreras, Jr., of Crystal City and Ruben Contreras of Carrizo Springs; 7 sisters, Irma Gamez and Ayda Saldivar both of Kenosha, WI, Hilda De la Cerda of Amarillo, Arminda Astran, San Juana Flores and Betty C. Avila all of Crystal City and Norma Martinez of Crookston, MN; 4 grandchildren.
