Oscar David Fizer Jr.

Oscar David Fizer, Jr., 87 died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 in Amarillo, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Monday at New Salem Funeral Home Chapel, 1823 Blue Mills Road, Independence, Missouri, with Reverend Mark Bender officiating. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery. ""Pa"", as he was lovingly called by his family, was born and raised in Independence, Missouri. He was a World War II Veteran and proudly served his country until his Honorable Discharge in 1946. On May 18, that same year, he met and married his bride of 67 years, Olene Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Rena Fizer and by two sisters and five brothers. Survivors include: his wife, Olene; two daughters, Kathy Fizer of Independence and Doneice Ray and her husband, Jerry, of Amarillo, Texas, seven adoring grandchildren and eight loving great-grandchildren. Rest in peace, Pa, you will always be our hero! Family and friends are welcome to visit prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm at New Salem Funeral Home.
