Pat “Pat” Mestas, 58, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in Lubbock, Texas, following a lifetime of medical complications. After years of enduring health challenges, Pat has now been called home to the loving arms of the Lord, where he will suffer no more, be free from pain, and find eternal peace.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, at Temple Baptist Church, with John David Culbertson officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage, Amarillo, Texas.
Pat was born on July 11, 1968, in Amarillo, Texas. Throughout his life, his faith remained an important part of who he was. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, where he enjoyed worshiping the Lord and spending time with his church family.
One of Pat’s greatest joys in life was the unconditional love he shared with his two beloved Chihuahua companions, Pancho and Taytay, whom he proudly considered his children. They held a special place in his heart and brought him comfort, happiness, and companionship.
On his good days, Pat especially enjoyed spending time with his mom, Sandra, shopping and going to garage sales together. These simple outings created cherished memories that will be treasured for years to come. Pat also enjoyed fishing, riding his bicycle around the neighborhood, and swimming. He loved staying active, getting out of the house, and embracing life whenever he could. Whether it was a trip to the store, a day spent outdoors, or a spontaneous adventure, Pat was always ready to make the most of the moment.
Although Pat faced a lifetime of medical complications, his life was about much more than the challenges he endured. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend whose memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. While his family grieves the loss of his earthly presence, they find comfort in knowing that his suffering has ended and that he is finally at peace in the presence of his Savior.
Pat was preceded in death by his three brothers, Donny Knott, Rodney Knott and Mikall Branch Lopez.
Those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Sandra B. Mestas; his father, Pat Mestas Sr.; his brother, Kelly Knott; his two sisters, Sherri Lopez and Dottie Polley; three nephews, Joshua Polley, Vicente Lopez, and Alexander Knott; and five nieces, Bailey Hernandez, Cassandra Polley, Ayisha Polley, Nikki Williams, and Morgan Stewart. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, great-nephews, great-nieces, and other extended family members who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Though Pat’s time on earth has come to an end, the love he gave, the memories he created, and the impact he made on his family will never be forgotten. His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now resting peacefully in the arms of the Lord, where there is no more suffering, no more pain, and only everlasting peace.
The family will be accepting flowers at Temple Baptist Church.
