Patricia Ann Ray

Sunrise: January 24, 1949 Sunset: September 26, 2018 Patricia Ann Ray was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, January 24, 1949 to Wade and Glenda Mae Ray. Raised in Amarillo, she graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1967, and in 1971 graduated with a B.S. Degree from West Texas State University. Ann made her career as a social worker for Child Protective Services retiring in 1998 and then working for Buckners Childrens Services and the Workforce Commission in Amarillo. She also taught ESL classes at Region 16 Education Service Center. As a community volunteer, Ann served on various boards and commissions and sponsored immigrant families through Catholic Family Service. Ms. Ray enjoyed traveling throughout the southwest and her hobbies included: reading, canning, art collecting, watching movies and her favorite PBS programs and spending time with family and friends. She was a strong advocate for social justice and was against the maltreatment of anyone. Preceded in death by her parents, Ms. Ray is survived by her sister, Linda Perkins; brother, Jimmy Ray; her niece, Kimberly (J.D.) Dickerson of Plainview, and nephew, Chris (Tammy) Ray of Lubbock. She leaves to cherish her memory a devoted host of family and friends.
