Paul D. Lovell

A celebration of his life will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, May 18 at River Road Baptist Church, with a lunch to follow. A graveside service, with full military honors, will be at 1:30 pm, MST, Thursday May 19 at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Paul was born on November 4, 1932 in Bells, TN to Hollis and Vivian Lovell. He later joined the U.S. Navy, wanting to see the world, and did just that. He also was in the Seabees, and later retired from the U.S. Air Force. He then dedicated 25 years to Sears, and was currently working for FEMA, where he enjoyed helping victims of tragedy. Paul had been a resident of Amarillo, for the past 17 years, where he met the love of his life, Edith Raney. They married on June 7, 1993, and both attended River Road Baptist Church. Helping others and traveling were a few of the many passions he had. He achieved both by venturing on several mission trips. He also enjoyed woodworking, riding his Harley, and spending time with his horses. His gentle and caring spirit was portrayed in everything he did for others. It was said, that he would literally give you the shirt from his back. He was always smiling, and was a very loyal and devoted husband. He will be deeply missed by the many who loved him. He was preceded in death by his father, and former wives. Survivors include his wife of Amarillo; 6 daughters, Pamela Davies of California, Phyllis Glorioso of Kentucky, Patsy Lovell of California, Rayanna Davina of Amarillo, Rachel Honea of Arizona, and Cheryl Theriault of North Carolina; 3 sons, Paul J. Lovell of California, Eddie Lovell also of California, and Gary Lovell of Kentucky; his mother, Vivian Lovell of California; 3 brothers, 2 sisters, 24 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends. The family requests that memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
