Pete Bitela, Jr.

Pete Bitela, Jr. 50 of Amarillo died Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021 in Amarillo. Services will be at 3 pm Friday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with John Elser, Chaplain at the Thomas E. Creek VAMC officiating. Pete was born in Amarillo on Nov. 18, 1970 to Pete and Rafaelita (Escamilla) Bitela. He graduated from Caprock High School and worked as a TDCJ as a corrections officer at the William P. Clements Unit in Amarillo for 12 years. Pete was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and loved watching WWE wrestling. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of BSA for the care they provided. Survivors include his mother, four sisters, Bonnie Bitela of Fresno, CA, Mary Bitela, Tina Bitela and Isabel Lopez and her husband Mark all of Amarillo; one brother, Ernie Bitel of Amarillo and many extended family.
