P.J. Dovalina

P.J. ""Joe"" Dovalina, 71 of Amarillo died November 2, 2007 at Amarillo. Prayer service will be at 6:30 PM Monday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at Southwest Baptist Church with Brad Speer, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Dovalina was born in Laredo, Texas. He has lived in Amarillo for 47 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force. He married Effie Sales in 1957 at Tucumcari. She preceded him in death in 2004. He was the co-owner of Presto Oil Change. He was also the owner of Academic Detective Agency. He was very involved in community service work. He once served as the Potter County Democratic Chairman, and also served on the hospital board at Northwest Texas Hospital. He volunteered for Hilltop Senior Citizens. He attended St. Laurence Cathedral. Survivors include: 2 daughters, Darla Leggett and husband, Monte of Fritch, and Annette Keith of Amarillo; 1 son, Roderick Dovalina, and wife Brenda of Amarillo; 1 sister, Maria West of Kansas City, MO; 8 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
