Randall 'Randy' Leif Apeland

Randall "Randy" Leif Apeland, 61, of Amarillo passed away on December 27, 2022. At Randy's request, no services will be held. Randy was born Monday, January 23, 1961, in Amarillo, TX to Arne and Diane Apeland. He lived in Amarillo where he attended Oakdale Elementary School, Bowie Jr. High and graduated from Caprock High School in May of 1979. Randy was active in the Caprock Marine Corp JROTC program. He joined the United States Army in August of 1982 in which he served as an Air Traffic Controller and Radar Controller. During his time in the service, he was awarded the Army Service Ribbon and Good Conduct medal. Randy attended Amarillo College graduating with an associate degree in Software Systems and Networks in August of 2002. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University with a bachelor's degree in Occupational Education in October of 2004. Randy was an avid lover of Sci-Fi and fictional literature, along with many other hobbies and interests. Randy was preceded in death by his Father, Arne Leif Ingvar Apeland of Denton, TX and his uncle, Ola Apeland of Skedsmokorset, Norway. Randy is survived by his children Erric Leif Apeland and wife, Tabitha of Virginia Beach, VA and Christopher Apeland of Amarillo, TX, his mother Diane Apeland of Amarillo, TX, his grandchildren Landon and Aubrey Apeland of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by his siblings Dana Apeland Reding of Denison, TX, Ryan Apeland of The Colony, TX, and Kari Iyer of Carrolton, TX and nieces Carol Ann Ray of Flatonia, TX, Kelsey Wilson of Allen, OK, Kristen Cady of Seymour, MO, Kaley Caskey of Whitewright, TX, and Leena Iyer, of Carrolton, TX, his uncle Gunnar Apeland, his family in Norway, and in addition to his many loved family members and friends.
