Raquel Flores-Leal

Raquel Flores-Leal, 78, of Amarillo died December 12th, 2020 at 5:22 AM at her home surrounded by all of her loved ones. Service will be 2:00 pm Friday, December 18 at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel Officiated by Manny Delossantos. Arrangements and Cremation are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. The family will receive guests Thursday, December 17 from 6-7:45 pm at the funeral home. Service will be live-streamed on Rector Funeral Homes Facebook page. Mom, as she was known by all, was born to Genovevo and Aurora Garcia on May 12th, 1942 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Raquel along with her two young daughters Sandra and Lisa met Francisco Flores-Leal in 1963 and she married him in 1964. Raquel followed her husband all over Texas until their family settled in Amarillo Texas in 1976. Raquel was a homemaker for many years and worked hard to keep up with her children. She later pursued her license to be a cosmetologist and was very successful in her field. Her husband built her a beauty shop behind her house where she would spend hours beautifying the ladies and gentlemen of the "barrio". She took pride in her work and her clientele list was a long one. Raquel retired from hairdressing in 1990 and began working as the nurses assistant at Sanborn Elementary School. While at Sanborn she took on many roles. She was responsible for many of the festivities that would take place at the school and spent countless hours fundraising for the school. Raquel joined her husband in retirement in 2000. She was a lifelong member of La Iglesia de Cristo and was a God-fearing faithful woman. Mom was preceded in death by her husband Francisco Flores-Leal, both parents, her brother Gilbert "Chule" Garcia and her only son Frank "Frankie" Leal. She is survived by all her daughters. Sandra Sanchez and spouse Manny, Lisa Cole and spouse Ivan both of Corinth TX, Telvi Flores and partner Sandra, Griselle Shultz and spouse Lee, Sophia Renee Trinidad and spouse Felipe, Vanessa Flores-Madrid and spouse Pete all of Amarillo TX, and Uvaldina Flores of Las Cruces NM. She was also blessed with 21 grandkids, 19 great-grandkids, and 5 great/great grandkids.
