Raul Castro

Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Friday, May 13 in the Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Saturday, May 14 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Monsignor Harold Waldow as celebrant. Burial will be at 2:00 pm at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Raul was born on April 11, 1953 in Hale Center, and resided in Memphis until 1973. He later moved to Nebraska where he worked in packing plants prior to residing in Amarillo in 2005. In Amarillo, he was employed as a security guard, and did so passionately. Raul took great pleasure in working on cars, playing pool, and listening to music. He enjoyed being around people, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucio and Santos Castro; a sister, Rebecca Villanueva; and a niece, Leonore Castro Saenz. Survivors include his wife, Maria Vargas-Castro of Amarillo; 2 sons, Raul Jr. and Ralph Castro; 6 brothers, Ricardo Castro and wife Irene of Memphis, Raymond Castro of Mission, Robert Castro and wife Lucia of Amarillo, Reynaldo Castro and wife Esperanza of Grering, NB, Rojelio Castro and wife Santos also of Grering, NB, and Romaldo Castro and wife Lydia of Waco; 4 sisters, Rosa Palomo of Grering, NB, Refugia Bernal of Amarillo, Rita Perez of Grering, NB, and Rachel Villanueva and husband Jose of Mission; and 19 nieces and 18 nephews.
