Ray Ruiz Rosas 72, of Amarillo died Thursday October 31, 2002. Rosary will be at 6:00 PM Friday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be at 10:00 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Msgr. Rex Nicholl officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Rosas was born in Amarillo. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked for the U.S. Postal Service, Santa Fe Railway and retired in 1992 from the Veteran Affairs Medical center where he had worked many years in several capacities. Mr. Rosas volunteered with the Amarillo Hospice programs; served as a Big Brother; president of the Gold Sox booster Club; chairman of the Boy Scouts; a charter member of the Los Barrios de Amarillo; and served on the boards of the Alamo Neighborhood Center and the Wesley Community Center, the Amarillos Housing Board and the board of directors for bilingual education at West Texas A&M University. He was a member of the American Legion Post 54 until the Samson and Espinosa posts were organized. In June of 1995 he was cited as a Good Neighbor by the Amarillo Globe News. Survivors include: 4 daughters, Theresa Condrey of Huntsville, Ala, Lisa Trevino and Mela Lucero both of Amarillo and Patti Tinajero of Arlington, 2 sons: Steven Rosas and Ignacio Rosas, both of Amarillo 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
