Rex Purviance 53 of Amarillo died Wednesday May 7, 2008 in Amarillo. Services will be Monday May 12, 2008 at Washington Avenue Christian Church with Jim Fox, Chaplain of Vista Care Hospice and Dr. G.A. Roach, chaplain of Northwest Texas Healthcare System officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas. Rex was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1973. He served in the Army from 1976 to 1992. He served with the 86th EVAC Hospital during the Persian Gulf War. He was currently employed at Northwest Texas Hospital as the systems administrator of surgical services. He married Mary Colleen Roach on November 29, 1974 at Amarillo. Rex was a loving husband and awesome dad and grandfather. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother Wilma Purviance in 2005. Survivors include his wife of the home; 4 daughters, Stefanie Patterson and her husband Shane of Bluffton, SC, Josie Bowman and her husband Kenny of Porter, Rachel Hardy and her husband Jerry and Monika Purviance and Blake Johnston all of Amarillo; 2 sons, Derek Purviance and his wife Angel and Sean Purviance and his wife Kristen all of Amarillo; his father, Charles Purviance of Amarillo; 2 sisters, Sharon Doud and her husband Chuck of Ridgeland, SC and Michele Brown and her husband Aaron of Bluffton, SC; 2 brothers, John Purviance and his wife Ginny of Murfreesboro, TN and Tim Purviance and his wife Marcie of Amarillo; and 11 grandchildren, Deznick, Kylee, Doran Jr., Toby, Bretten, Shyanne, Kaitlyn, Dillon, Hailey, Wendy and Zacery. The family suggests memorial donations be to the Nothwest Texas Hospital Auxiliary 1501 S. Coulter Amarillo, Texas 79175
