Richard L. Raff, 64 of Amarillo died Saturday March 22, 2008 at the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center. Memorial services will be at 4:00 PM Thursday at Bykota Baptist Church 4022 NE 26th Ave. with Richard Dickerson, pastor officiating. Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM MDT Monday at the Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, NM. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St., Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Raff was born in Thomas, OK. He entered the U.S. Army shortly after graduating from high school. He served during Vietnam where he received a Purple Heart. He retired from the Army as a Staff Sergeant on March 31, 1986. Mr. Raff loved working with model trains. He was a member of the Flying Scotsmen Model Railroad Club and the Texas Panhandle Railroad Historical Society, where he had served as president several times. He was a member of Bykota Baptist Church and a former member of the Canyon VFW. He married Phyllis Dockery-McKinney on May 1, 1993 at Amarillo. Survivors include: his wife of the home; 2 daughters, Richelle Miller of Grand Prairie and Sherry McKinney-Krobot of Amarillo; 2 sons, Jon McKinney of the Middle East and James McKinney of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
