Richard Brumley Weeter "Dick", 84, passed away on the same day as his mother on February 28, 2026, peacefully surrounded by the family who loved him beyond measure.

He was born on June 9, 1941, to Noel Weeter and Theresa (Brumley) Weeter in Borger, Texas, the second of four kids. He lived a life defined by devotion to his daughters, to his grandchildren, and to the people he cared for with a quiet, steady loyalty.

Richard, called Dickey by his friends, had an action-packed childhood in Borger. He rode his bike, explored the canyons north of town, participated in Boy Scouts camping trips and directed the shenanigans of the Alley Rat Club. He excelled in every sport including varsity football, baseball and basketball. He later pitched for a semi-pro baseball team called the Borger Oilers. Even as a youngster, he was a hard worker. He delivered newspapers and did various jobs at his Uncle Harold's car dealership. During the summers, he also worked on the wheat harvests. Nothing ever kept him from his next adventure and whatever was happening, Dickey was surrounded by his many friends and having more fun than anyone.

He married at age 16 to his high school sweetheart, Carolyn Faye (Overby) Weeter, in 1958. They have three daughters together, Terri, Melinda and Angel, all residing in Amarillo. They shared a deep love for their children and built a family rooted in resilience, humor and fierce loyalty. Their daughters always knew they were loved, and Dick and Carolyn spent 52 meaningful years together.

He was a father who made ordinary moments unforgettable.

A true hard worker, Dick even built his family’s home with his own hands during his time off work – a lasting testament to his determination and love for those he cared about. He dedicated 38 years to Sante Fe Railway (BNSF), where his work ethic and integrity earned the respect of those who worked alongside him. He believed in showing up, working hard, and doing things the right way — values he carried into every part of his life. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family.

In June 2012, Dick married Peggy (Morrow) Weeter and they spent 13 beautiful years together. He was blessed to have a Christian wife who loved his children and grandchildren, and who brought an easygoing, fun spirit into their home. Together, they built a life filled with family, laughter, and the everyday moments that mattered most.

Dick had a dry, mischievous sense of humor that showed up in the smallest moments. He loved to joke, and to make people smile. Even in hard times, he found ways to bring levity and comfort. He will be remembered for being a devout Christian, his humor, his grit, his love for his family, and the way he made everyone feel like they belonged. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will be carried forward in every story told, every laugh shared, and every moment of family togetherness.

The family will gather privately to honor his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two brothers, and other loved ones who went before him.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy; three daughters, Terri (Weeter) Schingle and her husband Rick, Angel (Weeter) London, and Melinda (Weeter) Jones, all of Amarillo; a sister, Janie (Weeter) Henderson and her husband Ronny of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Luke Palmer, Clay Gollihugh, Ben Jones, Mandi Jones and Gracie Thorp; and twelve great-grandchildren ranging from age 3 to 18 who all adored him.
