Rita Perales Puentes

Rita Perales Puentes, 79, of Amarillo, died Tuesday. Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM Thursday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel with Msgr. Harold Waldow, of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage Street. Mrs. Puentes was born May 23, 2923 in Lerdo Durango, Mexico. She married Joaquin Lomas Puentes on October 19, 1923 at San Pedro de las Colonia Coahuila, Mexico. They were married 64 years. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Sylvester Almanza, Jr. in 1994, and by a granddaughter, Anna Contreras in July 2002. Survivors include: Her husband of the home; 3 daughters, Juanita Almanza and Pablo Mauricio, Norma Weatherholt and her husband, Dennis, and Irma Clark, all of Amarillo; 2 sons, Manuel Puentes and his wife Yolanda, and Joaquin “Kenny” Puentes, all of Amarillo; 21 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren; and by many wonderful friends. Memorial donations may be made to BSA Hospice or to High Plains Dialysis.
