RL Montgomery, Passed peacefully at his home on Thur., July 12,2018 at the age of 91. Preceded in death by his wife, Billie Jean Montgomery "Mamie" who passed January 13th, 2011. Papa was born to the late Zera Pearl Walton and Roy Lee Montgomery Sr. of Abilene on December 29, 1926. Papa lived most of his adult life in Amarillo Texas. He was a loving father of Linda Montgomery and fianc Dalbert, Roy Montgomery and late wife Tammy, Carrol Lyberger and husband John, Glenda Reed and late husband Jack, Joe Montgomery and wife Terri. Papa and Mamie also had 11 Grand-children, 17 Great-Grand-children 2 Great-Great Grand-children and their loving pet Prissy whom they loved like a child. RL will be fondly remember by family and friends as a hard-working man and provider, Hes a WWII veteran of the US Navy, Papa also had a long career where he worked and retired with Asarco "Copper refinery plant". Papa never met a stranger... He enjoyed talking to everyone but he especially enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. During his down time, he read the newspaper and did the crossword puzzle. Though Papa is not here with us anymore Im sure hes enjoying seeing all our family members and friends that are in heaven with him. They are now enjoying his contagious laughter. We will miss you Papa dont forget to tell Mamie hello and that we love and miss her too. Viewing: The family will receive family & friends on Sunday July 15th, 2018 from 1:30pm to 7pm at Rector funeral home. Funeral: Monday July 16th,2018 at 3pm at Rector Funeral Home. Viewing will be from 9am-2pm with funeral procession to follow. Shane Toney, Papa & Mamies nephew will be officiating the funeral service. The family suggest memorials be to Interim Hospice, 3501 S.
