Robert Daniel Combs

Robert Daniel Combs, 71, of Amarillo, died Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

Memorial services will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Rector Funeral Home Pioneer Chapel, 2800 S. Osage.

Robert was born on May 2, 1954 in Memphis, Texas to Mary Jewel and John Wesley “JW” Combs. He was the 5th child of 9, and the oldest boy. Robert graduated in 1974 from Caprock High School. He worked as a mechanic at Sears before retiringin 2017 after 41 years of service.

He liked watching football and loved watching cowboy picture shows (old westerns) with his sons-in-law. He enjoyed camping and walks around the park. Roberts favorite memories was holiday visits with the family. His greatest life lesson was “Work hard for what you want.”

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Diane; grandson, Kit “Daniel Boone”; four sisters, Lula Matheson, Carolyn McCarty, Mary Ann Claytor and Ruth Combs; and two brothers, Jerry and Larry Combs.

He is survived by his daughters, Heidi Elliott and husband Howard; Robin Badillo and husband Eddie; and Misty White and husband David; grandchildren, Alice, Katrina, Chase (Baylei) Elliott; Thaddeus Combs, Nevaeh Badillo, and Aster Badillo; Destiny Burns and fiancé Matthew, Camron Burns, and Jacob Burns and wife Carter; great-grandchildren, Kaytlin Bartlett, Melody McMeekin, Mazie Elliott, and Noah and Madison Sargent; special friend, Pamela Matheson; brother, Richard Combs; and sisters, Debbie Watts, all of Amarillo, and Patricia Combs of Abilene.
