Robert Irwin ""Bob"" Hutchison left this world of trouble and sorrow to go home to live with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday night, July 20, 2002 about 10:30. After 34 years of service in the cemetery and funeral profession, Bob chose cremation as the final disposition of his remains. Therefore there will be no formal viewing of his earthly body. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday July 31, 2002 at San Jacinto Baptist Church with Dr. Stan Coffey officiating. Cremation and arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Bob was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Barbara Jean. He is survived by his wife Joyce of the home; 1 daughter: Brenda Joanne Cowan and her husband Richie of Hurst, 2 sons; Robert Wayne ""Bobby"" Hutchison and his wife Sherry of Amarillo and Ronald Alan Hutchison and his wife Chris of Georgetown, 2 granddaughters, 4 grandsons, 1 sister; Linda McLean and her husband Don of Grove City, PA., 2 brothers; Lewis and his wife Ann of Harrisville, PA., Jim and his wife Sue of Sandy Lake, PA. Bob was born August 7, 1937 and was raised in the small Pennsylvania town of Clintonville. He moved to Scottsdale, Arizona in 1955 where he met his wife of 45 years. He married Joyce Marie Garms on March 1, 1957 in Cayucos, California. They returned to make their home in Arizona until late November of 1969. The first of December in 1969, Bob accepted a position as sales manager, was later promoted to general manager, then co-owner of Memorial Park Cemetery. He supervised the construction of Memorial Park Funeral Home, which was completed in 1975. When the business sold in 1985, it was with the condition that Bob stay on as manager and president of the new corporation, which he did until he left the company in 1997. His community endeavors have included varied activities with many different organizations. He is an exhausted rooster with the Amarillo Jaycees, with whom he served as president and co-chairman of a Texas Jaycees Convention in the early 1970's. He served as president of the Amarillo Arthritis Foundation for two terms and was instrumental in their fund raising art auctions. He served on the Parks and Recreation Department of the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce during the time Southwest Park was established. He was a life member of the Amarillo West Rotary Club, where he received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award. He served one term as president of the club. Bob was active at San Jacinto Baptist Church serving as chairman of the ushers as well as on several committees, including the Stewardship Committee and Prayer Committee. He served several years on the board of Directors of the Panhandle Chapter of the Alzheimers Association. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Olivia's Angels in care of Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice and life Enrichment Center, 600 N. Tyler Amarillo, Texas 79107.
