Robert R. Johnston

Robert R. ""Bob"" Johnston 73, of Amarillo died Thursday June 14, 2012. No services are scheduled. Cremation was by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Johnston was born on August 3, 1938 in Lawndale, Illinois. He moved to Amarillo 41 years ago from Illinois. He owned and operated West Hills Texaco for more than 40 years. He made many life-long friends during the time he worked at the service station. He loved race cars and was an avid NASCAR fan. He married the love of his life, Evelyn on May 17, 1972. They just celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn, 2 step-daughters, Sharon Pellar and her husband Ramon of Amarillo and Deborah Hogan and her husband Dann of Happy Jack, AZ; 1 step-son, Jeffrey Stees of Amarillo; 3 grandchildren, Tammi Teynosa, Shanna Hogan and Daniel Hogan; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff of Kindred Hospital for the loving care they provide. Memorial donations may be made to Kindred Hospital ICU or the Amarillo SPCA.
