Robert William Bob Mayfield was born February 6, 1940 and left this earth on 25 August, 2015 to be with his Heavenly Father. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday August 29, 2015 at First Baptist Church Mobeetie with Tom Striblins Officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. He was born in Cheyenne Okla., to Joseph William and Dora Emma (Evans) Mayfield. He attended school in Cheyenne and graduated in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1957 serving 6 years, the last 2 years of service spent in Germany. After his military service he returned to Okla. where he met Susan Marie Sorensen. They married on 4 August 1968 and had 3 sons. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with family and friends. He was an avid reader and was interested in astronomy and space exploration. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph William and Emma Ruth; three brothers, Ralph, Albert and Kenneth; brother-in-law Buck Williams, and father-in-laws Lewis Orthman and Gaylen Sorensen. He is survived by his wife Susan, of the home, three sons Todd and wife Lori of Houston, Jeff and wife Danielle of Pampa, Tim and wife Jennifer of Charleston S.C., one brother Clifton wife Mary of Tucumcari N.M., sister Ollie Ruth Williams of Wister Okla., mother-in-law Carol Orthman of Dumas, two brother-in-laws Keith Sorensen of Dumas and Joe Orthman of Enid Okla., three sister-in-laws Shannon Pool of Dumas, Doreen Mayfield of Arnett Okla., Leona Faye Mayfield of Clovis N.M., Lou (Barb) Orthman of Charleston, S.C., 8 grandchildren, Michael of Moore Okla., Harley of Stephenville Tex, Brianna of Watonga Okla., Rachel of Ft. Worth Tex., Leah of Austin Tex., Erica, Jayden, Kourtney all of Charleston S.C. 6 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. The family will be at 2370 Beech Ln, Pampa Tex. Thursday 27 August and Friday 28 August night from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The viewing will be held before the memorial service, from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm at First Baptist Church of Mobeetie. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of the Southwest, or High Plains Childrens Home.
