Robert 'Bob' Smith

Robert J. "Bob" Smith 74, of Amarillo died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 in Amarillo. Memorial services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Bob was born in Roswell, NM on April 2, 1942 to McKinley and Elah Mae Smith. He started to work at Southwestern Public Service in Roswell in 1968. He moved to Amarillo in 1976 and helped in the construction of the Harrington Station. He retired in 1997. Bob married Patty Horton on June 25, 1966. He was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. Bob was an avid reader. He enjoyed reading murder mysteries. He enjoyed working on cars and was an avid race car fan. He also enjoyed football and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of the home; two sons, Darren Smith and his wife Maria and Marcus Smith and his wife Julie all of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Camryn, Olivia, Noah, Chelsy and Marissa. The family suggests memorial donations to 24 Hours in the Canyon Survivorship Center, 500 S. Taylor Unit 223, Amarillo, Texas 79101.
