Robert Whittington

Robert Whittington, 83, of Amarillo died Friday, November 12, 2021. Graveside services are 1:00 pm Thursday, November 18 at Memory Gardens Cemetery officiated by Jerry Davey. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. Robert was born in Dumas on June 23, 1938. He was a hardworking, loyal, and dedicated employee. he was a truck driver for many years, enjoying the open road. He was loyal to his family. He was a very proud grandfather. Robert enjoyed taking his grandchildren around in his tractor and letting them sit in his lap steering the big rig. He enjoyed country music and tinkering on old cars. Robert was like a handyman. He could fix anything. Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Elsie (Campbell) and her husband James Whittington, five sisters; Velma Russel, Jean Montgomery, Shirley Toney, Betty Maston, and Lois Hockaday, one brother, James Whittington, and one stepdaughter, Donna Lloyd. He is survived by his wife, Lavon Whittington, two daughters; Bobbi Batchelor and Gayle Woodruff, two sons; John and Robert Whittington, two step-daughters; Tanya White, and Charlene Heath, one sister, Kim Risenhoover, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
