Rodney Lyle Klein

Rodney Lyle Klein 44, 0f Amarillo died Thursday, September 19, 2013 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday at Second Baptist Church with Wayne Griffin, pastor officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Rodney was born in Canyon on August 10, 1969 to William Allen and Dorothy (Watson) Klein. He graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1987. Rodney was a very giving man. He adored his wife, children and family. Rodney was always smiling and never met a stranger. He worked as a corrections officer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for many years. He retired in November of 2012, due to health reasons. He married the love of his life, Julia Jenkins on Aug. 21, 2004 in Amarillo. He was a member of Second Baptist Church. Rodney was preceded in death by his father in 1972 and a step-brother Roger Atkinson. Rodney is survived by his wife Julie; one son, Payton Klein of the home; 4 daughters, Katie Klein and Haley Hobbs both of Amarillo and Hannah Hobbs and Autumn Klein both of the home; 3 brothers, Ricky Klein of Hereford, his twin brother, Regan Klein of Amarillo and Joseph Atkinson of Amarillo; 5 sisters, Sherry Myers, Terri Myers, Sarah Nash and Angela Atkinson all of Amarillo and Rebecca Atkinson of Marietta, GA; his mother and father, Dorothy and King Atkinson of Amarillo; 1 step-brother, David Atkinson of Clarendon, 2 step-sisters, Sandy Atkinson of Dallas and Annette Atkinson of Phoenix, AZ and his grandson, Zane Hernandez. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Amarillo Community Federal Credit Union in care of Rodney Klein. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM 6:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
