Roger Crabtree, 54 of Amarillo died Sunday May 25, 2003 at Amarillo. Memorial Services will be at 10:00 AM Friday at Oak Dale Grace Fellowship Church. Cremation and arrangements were by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Crabtree was born in Cortez, CO. He graduated from Palo Duro High School where he had been active in the football program. He started his music career in 1965 playing with the Coachman Band. He was well known locally and statewide for his harmonica playing. He was one of the original members of Alvin Crow and the Pleasant Valley Boys. He also toured with Waylon Jennings, Mel Tillis and played with various Blues bands in Austin. Mr. Crabtree worked as a journeyman carpenter in Austin and Amarillo. He returned to Amarillo in 2001. He married Jody Whitten in 2001 at Amarillo and was preceded in death by an infant son, Justin Crabtree. Survivors include his wife of the home, 1 daughter; Amy Crabtree of Austin, 1 step-daughter; Crista Warren of Amarillo, 2 brothers; Johnny Crabtree and Tommy Crabtree both of Amarillo and 1 sister; Venita Hoffman of Amarillo. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donation be to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch 600 W. 11th Ave. Amarillo, Texas 79101.
