Romanita 'Romey' Lucero

Romanita "Romey" Lucero 70, of Amarillo died, Wednesday, July 19, 2017 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 AM Monday at Hillside Christian Church South Campus 6901 S. Bell St., with Roger Arnold and Mark Brown officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Romey was born on February 28, 1947 in Hereford, to Mauricio and Antonia Lucero. She graduated from Hereford High School and from West Texas State University. Shortly after receiving her college education, Romey moved to Alexandria, VA. She worked with many federal agencies and had the privilege of working with many U.S Senators and House Representatives. She enjoyed her job immensely and retired after 47 years of dedicated service to our government. Romey was always delightful to be around. She loved her Lord Jesus and it showed to everyone she met. Romey was baptized in the Jordan River in Israel. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Erlinda Maldonado. She is survived by four brothers, Sam Lucero and his wife Adela, Mauricio "Morris" Lucero, Jr. and his wife Victoria, Jimmy Lucero and Augustin Lucero; five sisters, Amelia Mungia and her husband Gilbert, Isabel Rakestraw, Susie Grim and her husband Ron, Rita Mejia and her husband Bobby and Barbara Silva as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
