Ronald C. ""Ronnie"" Benavidez 48, of Amarillo died Friday July 9, 2010 in Amarillo. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Fr. Arturo Meza, celebrant officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Ronnie was born on November 8, 1961 in Carlsbad, NM. He graduated from Alamo Catholic High School in 1979 and attended New Mexico State University in Carlsbad. Ronnie worked in the flooring business most of his life. He was employed by the Amarillo Independent School District where he repaired tile. He owned and operated Ron's Floor and Tile for several years. Ronnie was a wonderful son and father. He adored his family and was very close to them. He loved being around his many close friends. He loved playing golf, cards, pool and darts. He won many trophies at dart tournaments and participated in many golf tournaments. He was a member of the Pan-American Golf Association. Ronnie loved serving people and helping those in need, especially the elderly. He was preceded in death by his father, Carlos Benavidez in 1994. He is survived by his mother, Elida Hernandez-Benavidez of Amarillo, 1 son Ronald Charles Benavidez, II, of Amarillo and a brother, Felix Anthony Benavidez of Amarillo and many cousins, aunts and uncles. The family suggests memorial donations be to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 4112 SE 25th Ave. Amarillo, Texas 79103.
