Rosario L. Romero

Rosario L. “Jr.” Romero, 63, of Amarillo, died Monday, November 11, 2002. Rosary will be at 7:00 PM Wednesday at Rector Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Services will be at 1:30 pm Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Romero was born in Amarillo. He has lived her all his life. He played football for the Nixon Jr. High School Whirlwinds. He was a champion wrestler at Amarillo High School. He graduated from there in 1954. He owned and operated Romeros Mexican Inn for 24 years, where Paul Revere and the Raiders once chose to eat while in Texas. The restaurant closed in 1980, but is still talked about today. Mr. Romero was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Survivors include: 2 sons, Anthony Greg Romero and Michael Romero; 1 brother, Clifford Romero and his wife Rosalie of Amarillo; 3 grandchildren; 2 nieces, Tina Sims and Julie Hampton both of Amarillo; 2 nephews, Richard Romero and Mark Romero both of Amarillo; 5 great nieces, Alexis Romero Ortiz, Bailey Hampton, Melissa Rose Romero, Abby Meagher and Ashley Meagher; 6 great-nephews, Brian Romero, Brad Romero, Jacob Sims, Shane Sims, Dexter Sims, and Nathen Hampton.
