Ross Gerald ""Jerry"" Howe 77, of Amarillo died Friday November 6, 2009 in Amarillo. Services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with Rev. Greg Kinch, pastor of Southlawn Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Howe was born in Treadwell, NY. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. He was stationed in Savannah, GA, Amarillo and Okinawa, Japan. After being honorably discharged in 1960 as a Staff Sergeant, Mr. Howe moved back to New York for 4 years. He returned to Amarillo, where he worked as a postal carrier, transporting mail from Amarillo to Canadian. He moved to Canadian in 1966, where he lived for 38 years. He returned to Amarillo in 2004. While in Canadian, Mr. Howe served as the first postal carrier. He also owned several small businesses. He sold his oil field trucking business and retired from Hemphill County as a heavy equipment operator. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for the Canadian ISD. He married Patricia ""Pat"" Giles on June 28, 1953 in Amarillo. They were married 56 wonderful years. He is survived by his wife of the home, 2 daughters, Janet Howe of Amarillo and Sandy Howe of Canadian; 2 sons, Stanley Howe and his wife Linda of Fort Wayne, IN and Kevin Howe of Euless; 5 grandchildren, Chris Howe, April Howe and her husband Roy, Josh Howe, Karen Howe and Willanna Howe and his beloved dog, Angel. Viewing will be from 8:30 AM - 8:00 PM Monday at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial donations to the Amarillo SPCA.
