Roy L. Burgin, 75 of Amarillo died Sunday May 25, 2003 at Amarillo. Masonic Graveside Rites will at 2:00 PM Thursday at Fairview Cemetery in Pampa by the Pampa Masonic Lodge #966 A.F. & A.M. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Burgin was born in Antlers, OK. He moved to Amarillo more than 30 years ago from Borger. He worked as a construction welder for many years. He retired from the City of Amarillo water department in 1993. Mr. Burgin was a life-long musician and formed his own band, which played throughout the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles. He was a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge, the Lubbock Scottish Rite and the Khiva Shrine Temple. He served as president of the Khiva Western Swing Band in 1991. He married his first wife Donnie in 1946. She preceded him in death in 1995. He married Renate Weathers in 1995. Survivors include his wife of the home, 1 daughter, 1 son, 3 step-children, 4 brothers; H.L. Burgin of Houston, Troy Burgin of Amarillo, Billy Burgin of Pond Creek, OK and Glenn Burgin of Dallas, 1 sister; Norma Jean of Houston, 7 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donation be to the Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital in care of the Khiva Shrine Temple 305 E. 5th Ave. Amarillo, TX 79101.
