Roy Lee Montogomery

Roy Lee Montgomery, 71, of Amarillo passed peacefully in his home on February 2, 2023. The family will receive guests at Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage, on Thursday, February 9, 2023, from 6 pm to 8 pm. A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2023, at 1 pm in the funeral home chapel with Shane Tony of Arena of Life presiding. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Roy was born April 16, 1951, in Dumas, Texas to R.L. and Jean (Whittington) Montgomery. Roy never met a stranger and made everyone feel welcome. He was the life of the room. Roy loved football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He found great joy in watching Nascar racing and his favorite drivers Jeff Gordon and Chase Elliott. Roy enjoyed spending time with friends and listening to music. He was especially passionate about the time he spent with his grandchildren and spoiling them. Roy is preceded in death by his daughter Sheila Renee Montgomery, sister Glenda Reed, his parents, and his beloved wife Tammy Montgomery. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Kristy Benavides, sons Roy and Casey Montgomery, sisters Linda and Carrol, brother Joe; and his adored 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
