Shelby Lee Gifford

Shelby Lee Gifford 66, of Amarillo passed on to be with our heavenly Father on February 7, 2007 in Amarillo. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home, Osage Chapel, 2800 South Osage St. Mr. Gifford was born in Lawton, OK in 1940 and moved to Pampa in 1951. While in Pampa he met and married Beverly Fennell in 1957. Mr. Gifford served in the United States Navy for 8 years and served during the Vietnam Era. He and his family moved to Amarillo in 1965, where he worked at the Texaco Refinery for 17 years. He then moved on to work at Excel Helium where he retired in 1998. Mr. Gifford will always be remembered and was a beloved husband, father and grandfather ""Popeye"". He is survived by his wife of the home; a son, Wesley Gifford of Amarillo, 4 daughters Diane Mosier, Valerie Bintliff and husband Ken both of Amarillo, Rhonda Taylor and husband Gary of McKinney, TX, and Veronica Jacoby and husband Joel of Hasty, Co; 1 brother Olen Gifford of Mc Allister , OK, 5 sisters Dorothy Wilbanks of Stinnett, TX, Pauline Sewell of Lawton, OK, Ruthie Shaw of Roseburg, OR, Alma Capps of Fresno, CA, and Bonnie Gregory of Mabank, TX; and 7 grandchildren. In Lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Olivia's Angels, PO Box 950 Amarillo, TX 79105.
