Sherron Jean Mays

Sherron Jean Mays 69, of Amarillo died Saturday, December 26, 2015 in Amarillo. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with David Speed, pastor of Osage Baptist Church officiating. Private family burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Sherron was born on October 24, 1946 in Matador to Floyd and Edith (Morris) Shannon. She lived in Amarillo most of her life. Sherron loved children. She worked as a childcare provider for several years until she had grandchildren. She then worked as a full time grandmother, helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family was very important to her and she was an exemplary wife. Sherron was a devoted member of Osage Baptist Church. She never missed an opportunity to tell others about her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Sherron married the love of her life, Raymond Mays on December 9, 1966 in Amarillo. She is survived by her loving husband; three daughters, Tamme Pinkert and her husband Tommy, Rita Burton and her husband Harry and Shannon Sharber and her husband Brad all of Amarillo; her father, Floyd Shannon of Amarillo; one sister, Sallie Grimsley of Amarillo; one brother, Ronnie Shannon and his wife Jan of Corpus Christi; 13 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorial donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Amarillo Heart Group. Private Family burial will be at Llano Cemetery.
