Shirley Arlene Reel 57, of Amarillo died Tuesday May 12, 2009 in Amarillo. Services will be at 11:00 AM Friday at Oasis Southwest Baptist Church with James Loper, pastor of Cornerstone Church Amarillo officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Reel was born in Memphis, Texas on Sept. 1, 1951 to Orville and Wilma Gonce. She graduated from Caprock High School in 1969. She worked at KGNC Radio for 11 years. She touched the lives of many children by serving as a foster parent for more than 20 years to over 300 children Mrs. Reel was a Christian. She had attended Central Baptist Church, Rockwell Road Baptist Church and was currently attending Oasis Southwest Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors, especially gardening and spending time with her family at Lake Greenbelt. She married the love of her life, James H. Reel on June 16, 1972 in Clovis. Se was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Don She is survived by her husband of the home; 2 sons, James H. Reel, Jr. and his wife Julie of Bushland and Josh Reel of Amarillo; 1 daughter, Tara Judd and her husband Mike of Amarillo; 1 brother David Gonce of Fort Worth; 11 grandchildren and 5 foster granddaughters. The family will receive friends from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
