Shirley Ross "Chadwick" Stone, age 83, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026.
Born on February 6, 1943, Shirley lived a life centered on faith, family and love. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.
For nearly 65 years, Shirley shared a beautiful marriage with the love of her life, Slim Stone. Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support. As a homemaker, Shirley took great pride in caring for her family. She was an exceptional cook and baker whose meals brought loved ones together and created cherished memories around the table. She was truly the glue that held her family together.
Shirley is survived by her son, Alton Stone of Lubbock; her daughter, Margaret; granddaughter Nichole Welch and husband Shawn Welch of the family home; Latisha and Chandler Miner of Amarillo; Bob and Brittney Kempf-Stone of Amarillo; April Stone of Amarillo; Amy and Jay Ruckman of Ennis; Dr. Beau Stone of Amarillo; and Alton, Mathew, and Niihalani Stone of the surrounding area. She also leaves behind 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
Shirley's legacy lives on in the family she nurtured, the traditions she created, and the countless lives she touched through her love, generosity, and steadfast presence. Her family will forever remember her strength, her wisdom, her delicious meals, and the unconditional love she shared so freely.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors in Amarillo. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. A procession will proceed to Llano Cemetery, where Shirley will be laid to rest.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered prayers, support, and kindness during this difficult time.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love will continue to guide and comfort those she leaves behind. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come.
