Shirley Temple Swaim, 82, of Amarillo, Texas, peacefully passed away on July 8, 2018, surrounded by her family. Funeral services will be held at Paramount River Road Baptist Church on Thursday, July 12 at 10 a.m. in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be led by Randy Davis, Pastor of Lifeway Fellowship Church in Amarillo. Interment will follow the services at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. Visitation will be held at Rector Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 11, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Shirley was born in Helena, Arkansas on July 1, 1936. She lived there for a short time before moving to Hollis, Oklahoma. She was a graduate from Hollis High School. There she met her life-long love, Hulen Swaim. They were married on May 21, 1955. In 1960 they moved to Amarillo, Texas and lived the remainder of their lives in Amarillo. Shirley and her loving husband were married for 55 wonderful years until his death in October of 2010. She was a loving wife, mother, and MeMaw. She was a sweet and beloved friend and Memaw to many. Truly, there was nothing she would not have done for her family. She attended every event for her kids, grands, and greats and was their biggest cheerleader!! When she did have to work outside the home, she spent her working years at Pantex until her retirement in 2001. She was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Amarillo. She loved the Lord and has gone to be with her heavenly family. Shirley (Memaw) is survived by her two sons, Michael Gene Swaim and his wife, Sharon, of The Woodlands, Texas and Mark Swaim and his wife, Regina of Amarillo, Texas. Five (5) grandchildren Alicia (Swaim) Smith and husband Copen, Amarillo, Texas; Chris (Swaim) Froneman husband Johan, Amarillo, Texas; Matthew Swaim, Woodlands, Texas; and Cindy (Swaim) Nelson and husband Buck, Amarillo, Texas and Joshua Swaim, Woodland,Texas. Seven (7) great grandchildren Rolan & Gage Smith, Remi & Wesson Nelson,Gracie & Halle Froneman all of Amarillo, Texas and Brady Swaim, Conroe, Texas. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband, Hulen Gene Swaim in October 2010. The family wishes to thank all the Hospice nurses and care team who lovingly attended to her during her final earthly journey. Shirley (MeMaw) will be dearly missed.
