Shirley Ann Toney of Amarillo died Thursday December 12, 2019 in Lubbock. Service will be 11:00 am Wednesday, December 18 at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel officiated by Brandon Bugg. Shirley Ann Toney was born September 25, 1940 in Dumas, to James and Elsie Whittington. She raised three sons, Jack, Steven, and Shane. Her kids and grandkids were whole world. She had a big heart and was giving. Shirley just loved to help people, but she was a ball of fire. She was very competitive especially when it came to Skipbo, she was always going to win. This was the same drive she had in her work ethic as well, Shirley worked for Walmart for 17 years before retiring. She was Strong willed and a go-getter. She had a real comical sense of humor. She saw the best in every situation even if it was her sons picking on her. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings, going on cruises, liked to gamble, and going to church. She just loved to be going and doing and just being active. Early in life she was a member of the Eastern Stars and Beta-Sigma-Phi Sorority. Shirley was preceded in death by her Parents, her brother, James Whittington, three sisters; Velma Russell, Lois Hockaday, and Jean Montgomery. She is survived by three sons, Jack Hayes, Steven Hayes and his wife Donna, and Shane Toney and his wife Mandy, two sisters, Betty Maston and Kim Risenhoober, and one brother, Robert Whittington, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
