Soylo Martinez

July 6, 1944 — February 13, 2022

On February 13, 2022 two soulmates were reunited in Heaven as hearts broke on Earth.Graveside service is 10:00 am Friday at Llano officiated by Msgr. Rex Nicholl. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage. The family will receive guests Wednesday 12-8 pm and Thursday 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Soylo (SJ) Martinez Jr. was born July 6, 1944 to Soylo Martinez Sr. and Agustina Cisneros in San Jon, New Mexico. He was the youngest of three sisters Patricia Mendez, Olga Sanchez, and Connie Navarrete. At the age of 16, Soylo married the love of his life, Gloria Fuentes, January 21, 1961. A marriage of 60 years Soylo was a hard worker dedicated to concrete and construction. He worked for Western Builders and Walker Concrete Company for many years, before merging and creating his own business. Soylo and Gloria were devoted Catholics who attended St. Martins Catholic Church. There, they volunteered and offered prayer and support for those around them. Faithful until the very end, Soylo was observed to be making the sign of the cross, and praying his rosary in his final days. In 2018, Soylo fought and beat Pancreatic Cancer after being released from hospice care. He was quick to share his testimony of how good God is. Soylo never hesitated to fix something around your house that was broken, mow your lawn, help you move, or slip you $20 for some fuel for your car. He welcomed you in with a handshake and a hug, and quickly made you his family. He was easily known as one of the kindest, generous, hardworking man you will ever know. Always willing to lend a helping hand Soylo was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters; Patricia Mendez and Olga Sanchez. Soylo is survived by a son, Randy Martinez and three grandsons, Patrick, Eric, and Jacob Martinez, and one great-grandson Grayson Martinez, all of Amarillo. Soylo is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many godchildren. As we grieve this loss of Soylo, we are comforted knowing that he will be remembered each time we forgive, help one another, see the good in someone else, and love because this is how he lived his life. Heaven is rejoicing as he is called home and is seated at the right hand of the father and next to his soulmate.
