Steve Pond 57, of Amarillo died Tuesday June 8, 2010 in Amarillo. Services will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel with T.C. Messer, pastor of Harvest Time Church officiating. Interment will be at Llano Cemetery with military honors rendered by the DAV Chapter #26. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Pond was born in Amarillo. He graduated from Tascosa High School. After graduation, Mr. Pond joined the Air Force where he served during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on May 21, 1974. Mr. Pond worked for his grandfather as a stone mason at PermaStone Home Improvements. He bought the franchise from his grandfather in 1978. He surrendered to preach the Gospel in 1989. He served as a missionary and made trips to Brazil in 1990, 1991, 1992 and 1993. Mr. Pond was a loving husband and father. He loved listening to Blues music and watching black and white movies with his grandchildren. He loved spending time with his family and cooking out. He married the love of his life, Kay Pierce on March 21, 1975 in Amarillo. He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, Donnie Pond and his wife Shannon and Danny Pond and his wife Holly all of Amarillo; 2 sisters, Dyanne Dambold of Denver, CO, and Hope Glover of Kent, WA; 1 brother, Paul Pond of Laveta, CO; and 3 special grandchildren, Brayden, Quinten and Scottlyn.
