Theresa Lynn Pannell, a beacon of joy and love, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Amarillo, Texas, on June 8, 2024, at the age of 71. Born on March 22, 1953, to Harold and Dorothy Hollabaugh, Theresa grew up surrounded by the warmth and vibrancy of the Texas Panhandle, a place she cherished throughout her life.
Theresa was a graduate of Palo Duro High School, class of 1971. Her passion for caring for others led her to pursue a career in healthcare, becoming a Certified Nurses Assistant and Certified Phlebotomist. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of many, providing comfort and care to those in need.
In 1981, Theresa married the love of her life, Deryal Pannell, and together they embarked on a journey of love and companionship that would span 43 years. Their union was blessed with a son, Elton Richard, who, along with his wife Heather, continued to fill Theresa's life with joy and purpose.
Theresa's laughter and love extended to her three grandsons, Richard Joseph Butcher and his wife Meaghan, Harold Butcher and his wife Ashley, and Andrew Butcher, as well as her granddaughter, Jennifer Butcher. She took great delight in her role as a grandmother, celebrating each milestone and creating memories that her grandchildren will treasure forever. Her legacy grew even richer with the arrival of two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Ethan, who brought renewed happiness and laughter into her world.
A woman of many interests, Theresa's life was a tapestry of the things she loved. Fishing and camping trips were cherished moments, as were the excitement of online shopping sprees and the thrill of a good gamble. Traveling was one of her greatest pleasures, and she looked forward to her annual visits to East Texas Lake O' The Pines, a tradition that held a special place in her heart.
Those who knew Theresa will remember her for her quick wit and infectious sense of humor. She was the embodiment of love and adventure, always ready with a funny anecdote or a warm embrace. Her adventurous spirit was matched only by her loving nature, and she will be remembered as a woman who embraced life's journey with enthusiasm and grace.
Theresa's commitment to her community shone through in the way she cared for the neighborhood children, earning her the affectionate title of the neighborhood's second mom. Her home was a haven of kindness and generosity, where friends and family were always welcome.
Preceded by her parents, Harold and Dorothy Hollabaugh, and her brother Terry Hollabaugh, Theresa leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Theresa is survived by her devoted husband, Deryal Pannell, her loving son, Elton Richard, and his wife Heather, her adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a community of friends who were like family to her. Each person whose life she touched will carry a piece of her spirit with them forever.
As we bid farewell to Theresa Lynn Pannell, we celebrate a life lived with unbridled joy and boundless love. Her memory will continue to inspire us, reminding us to embrace each day with the same passion and zest for life that she exemplified. Theresa's story is not one of goodbye but a beautiful reminder of the impact one life can have on so many.
A private service will be held to honor Theresa's memory, where family and friends will gather to share stories, laughter, and tears, paying tribute to a remarkable woman who was truly one of a kind. Theresa's journey on this earth may have ended, but her spirit will continue to guide and comfort us for generations to come.
