Thomas "Shorty" Moore

Thomas “Shorty” Moore, age 71 years old, of Amarillo, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2025, at Hillside Heights Rehabilitation Suites.

Shorty was born in Amarillo and lived in the area all his life. He was the son of the late Kenneth Gene and Peggy Sue (Thomas) Moore. He was a cowboy most of his life, working until ill health slowed him down. Shorty worked primarily at Amarillo Livestock Auction and several area farms. He enjoyed walking, visiting family and friends, spending time outdoors, working with horses, and running cattle. He never knew a stranger and made friends with whomever he would meet.

In addition to his parents, Shorty was preceded in death by his infant son, Thomas Carl; triplets: Misty Dawn, Peggy Faye, and Sherri Lynn; and former spouse, Kris Moore. He is survived by his daughter, Terri Larmee of Amarillo; grandchildren: Bethany, Dakota, Hope, Faith, and Remington; great-grandchildren: Kaya, Christian, and Teagan; brother, Ronnie (Hillary) Moore of Amarillo; and sister, Tammie Moore-Loehe; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside service honoring Shorty’s life will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 19 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 6969 E Interstate 40 Highway, Amarillo. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday at Rector Funeral Home, 2800 South Osage Street, Amarillo.
