Travis Akin

Mr. Travis Akin, 97, passed away Saturday July 15, 2023, at his home. Travis was born June 24, 1926, to Cloron and Emily Kitlinger Akin, who preceded him in death. Travis was a lifelong resident of Amarillo. He married Nawana Dowdy and raised a family of two boys and one daughter. Travis served with the Army during WWII. During his life Travis was a Diesel Mechanic in Amarillo. He is survived by one daughter, Becky Akin Morton and husband Gary of Willow Park, Texas; one son, Gary Akin of Amarillo; one sister Clorene Ruthrauf of Amarillo; one brother Eddie Akin of Amarillo; 5 Grandchildren; numerous Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Mr. Akin was preceded in death by his wife Nawana Akin; parents Cloron and Emily Akin; and son Steven Akin. There is no service planned at this time, Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Rector Funeral Home, 2800 S. Osage St. Amarillo, Texas 79103.
