Tula Ann (Duckworth) Newkirk 84, of Amarillo died Monday September 15, 2014 in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Llano Cemetery with Rev. Troy McConnell, Minister of Music at Trinity Baptist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mrs. Newkirk was born on June 30, 1930 in Hedley. She was a devout Christian and was devoted to reading her Bible everyday. Mrs. Newkirk also loved working the crossword puzzles in the newspaper. She was so proficient at completing them, she always did them in ink. Mrs. Newkirk was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR. She loved her family and cherished the quality time they spent together. Mrs. Newkirk was an exemplary mother and "Granny". She thought of her two daughters in law and her son in law as her own children. She is survived by two sons, Phillip David Newkirk and his wife Dorothy of Clarendon and William Newkirk and his wife Noline of Amarillo; 1 daughter, Alice Ann Smith and her husband Jim of Arlington; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. The family requests memorial donations, in lieu of flowers to Hospice Care of the Southwest, 6600 Killgore Dr. #110 Amarillo, Texas 79106
